Spot defects - Paint defect removal (like dust nibs)

First: Denib the door with 3M™ Finesse-it™ Trizact™ 466LA daisy discs, grade 3000 on denib tool;
Then clean the area!
Second: Scratch refinement with 3M™ Trizact™ Fine Finishing Disc 443SA, grade 6000, 75 mm on orbital sander;
Then clean the area!
You are now ready for polishing!

Area defects - Paint defect removal (like orange peel, runners)

First: Sand the area with 3M™ Hookit™ Purple Finishing Film Abrasive Disc 260L, grade P2000;
Then clean the area!
Second: Sand the area with 3M™ Trizact™ Fine Finishing Disc 443SA, grade 3000, 150 mm on orbital sander on orbital sander, then clean the area.
Third: Scratch refinement with 3M™ Trizact™ Fine Finishing Disc 443SA, grade 6000, 150 mm on orbital sander on orbital sander, then clean the area.
You are now ready for polishing!

Colour Coded Polishing and Finishing Process from 3M

First: Add a small amount of 3M™ Perfect-It™ Fast Cut Plus Extreme (green cap) onto the green foam pad on the rotary polisher.
Polish in an overlapping pattern, RPM between 600 - 1500.

Note: The softer the coating, the lower the temperature and thus the RPM needs to be.
Wipe off any excess polish and inspect area.

Second: Apply 3M™ Finish Control Spray, wipe off with microfiber cloth or 3M™ Polishing Cloth

Third: Change foam to a yellow foam and add small amount of 3M™ Perfect-It™ Extra-Fine Plus (yellow cap) onto the pad. Polish area and surrounding in an overlapping pattern, RPM between 600 - 1500. Wipe off any excess polish and inspect area - most colours are fine now.

Note: For critical colours (very dark or black) - remove the holograms with 3M™ Perfect-It™ Ultrafina SE and blue polishing pads.
Using this process too dry will not give you swirl-free results! Don't apply too much pressure - just run the pad over the surface, covering the whole area generously.
Add 3M™ Perfect-It™ Ultrafina SE (blue cap) onto the blue foam pad on the rotary polisher with reduced speed, moving in an overlapping pattern.
Wipe off any excess polish.
